Jesse and Kaitlyn

Where it all began:

Jesse and Kaitlyn met on their first night of college at Western Carolina University through a mutual friend. As the story goes, Jesse’s friend invited him to go hang out with them and some “pretty girls” they had just met.  The guys all went together to Kaitlyn and her roommate’s door.  Jesse happened to knock on Kaitlyn’s dorm room door, while the other guys dodged out of the way, Jesse was standing in clear view in the door way. He was met by a strange look and “who are you?” from Kaitlyn.  Little did Kaitlyn know, the stranger outside of her door would become her husband. The rest is history.

Kaitlyn and Jesse have dated for 6 years.  Many of these years have been spent on the road, commuting back and forth to see one another. Regardless of distance, Kaitlyn and Jesse have made it work through multiple mid-week Japanese dates in Asheville (the middle ground for them both).

The Proposal:

During their freshmen year of college, Kaitlyn and Jesse went cliff jumping with some friends at a Lake in Cashiers, NC. While another group of friends decided to go sit on the beach, Kaitlyn decided to follow Jesse and another group of friends up the cliff to take the plunge in an attempt to impress Jesse. A few days later, Kaitlyn and Jesse went on their first date. Needless to say, the decision to jump, although terrifying, was one of the best decisions that Kaitlyn ever made.

Six years later, on October 14th of 2016, Jesse took Kaitlyn to the same place that they first jumped and asked her to take another leap of faith with him by asking her to marry him.

The Wedding:

Jesse and Kaitlyn decided to get married at New Friendship Baptist Church (Kaitlyn’s home church) and have the reception at Centennial Station soon after becoming engaged. The venue is located at a convenient place that makes travel easy for both families. In addition, the old train station has a vintage look and possesses a lot of history of travel. Jesse and Kaitlyn are excited to begin traveling together. Although they have been many places on their own (collectively: Australia, Finland, England, Ireland, Wales) they have never had the opportunity to share these travels together. This is something they look forward to as newlyweds. With this being said, Centennial Station was the perfect spot to begin their new adventure of marriage!
